Stephen Brewster was sick and tired of searching for energy deals, but he didn't want to pay more than he needed to - so he found a way to get the best of both worlds.
Families spend £400 too much on energy each year, and yet very few of us get round to switching deals.
Londoner Stephen Brewster was one of the many Brits fed up with the long, drawn-out process of finding a better energy tariff. Then he came across Flipper, which styles itself as “your personal energy shopper”.
In return for a yearly fee of £25, Flipper looks for the best energy deal around, and automatically transfers you to the new tariff. If it spots another deal later in the year, it will switch for you again.
If you can’t save more than £50, Flipper will not charge you.
We asked Stephen how the experience went:
“People don’t switch because of laziness. It is the same reason they don’t switch car insurance - they just get the renewal notice and think ‘happy days’.
“Obviously with Flipper, you have to pay that £25, if it saves you more than £50. They don’t get the money up front so it is not done on the fly.
“In my case, Flipper was able to identify £816.07 savings. I dare say my wife will come up with some weird and wonderful way to spend it."
“I have recommended this to friends, family and work colleagues."
Sign up to Flipper in 60 seconds and you could save £385/year or more on your energy bills.
